Abstract
The objective of this technical note is to describe the autologous matrix induced chondrogenesis (AMIC) procedure and to evaluate its possible role for resurfacing of retropatellar cartilage defects.
AMIC is a one-step procedure combining micro fracturing with application of a collagen I/III membrane to protect the initial blood clot and to serve as a scaffold for the developing chondrocytes.
A retrospective analysis of our experience in three patients followed for 18 months is presented.
